Aceyalone | Ugly Duckling | Procussions
Berbati’s Pan
Okay, I didn’t have much expectation for Ace. But damn, this night turned out to be the best this year! From nearly running down the sidewalk of Powell at sunset, to Dancing at Dunes at 4 am. It was on.
I had never seen any of these groups. I had listened to all of them before and was only impressed with Aceyalone. When I first moved here my brother Nate visited and left this tape that I found randomly. This was when tapes had almost become extinct. But the tape was great. I’d never heard it before and it was Aceyalone. Now this past winter, when Nate got out of prison, the first thing he sent me was Aceyalone’s “Love and Hate”, and I’m still listening to it.
Procussions from Colorado Springs, put on a show with a ton of energy and choreographed sequences.

Ugly Duckling. I can’t get over my prejudice of them being just alright. My Friend Hyang showed up to my surprise. After getting our drink on, she invites me to her car to roll and smoke a jizzel. We get back to Aceyalone on stage getting down.
Ace. Damn. He came out slow and strong. Rev’n it up with cuts from RJD2’s and his new collaboration. Then went way back, and stayed there, then pulled out the openers, Procussions and Ugly Duckling, to jam at the end with DJ solos and a drum solo. It capped a great show. Then by hanging around, I was assigned the responsibility of driving the Procussions to Dunes for an after hours jammy jam.
The after show deal at dunes was so fucking cool. Dunes had done a lot since the last time i was there. Fucking Lasers! Shiny shit hanging from the ceiling and lights.

Any way, Aceyalone is at it. His MJ brought his mac and plugged into the sound system. Boo ya!

A new concert, plus the drummer from Procussions took over the set that was left by the band. Then it was on. Things got loose. Deep red light, the tension from hipster haven invaded by those “Bling Blingers”.

The place was solid and felt like a secret party in your friends basement and Aceyalone shows up to help you party. The sweet and tangy smell of cannibus in the air, beautiful girls (Ren?), lasers, deep bass and a live drummer. I leaned and asked the MJ Onyx, to do “Love and Hate” and right on time and almost instantly they went into it. Like a living jukebox. Two feet in front of me singing my favorite song, thanks.

Also, thanks Laura, Kara and Mandy, oh, and Hyang.

You spelled my name wrong again! Its Hyang! After all these years one day, you’ll get it right! Didn’t know I was in the story though, that’s cool. That night was so fun! I like your take on everything-and the pics look really good-I might want some copies. So don’t say I never look at your website!! It’s coming along Dan! Love, Les
