Rotture
The best little venue in Portland. After twenty years, the liqour and beer flow again in the building that once served the east bank dock workers. Now, a fully functioning bar with a raised stage, lighting, a sound board and a balcony overlooking downtown.
Rotture is a new lounge, restaurant, and live music venue located in the Lower Southeast Industrial neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Enter from the street at 315 SE Third to access their upstairs lounge, performance area, and balcony, and step downstairs to enjoy the darker, more intimate second bar with pool tables and gaming.
After three long years and hoop jumping that would of pissed off a poodle in a circus, Rotture has opened the old b-complex/meow meow/loveland space back to one of it’s original functions in the East Bank. One function being a provider of spirits and drinks. The other newest function, presenting the best music Portland has to offer in a truly unique building. This is the place where great night’s out are going to be happening. This is going to be the place where people’s memories of seeing great music wil be.

The long story of getting this place turned into a functioning adult venue ended this summer when the few business owners in the industrial area that were competely opposed to any more places serving alcohol, finally retired. Now efforts to bring some more activity to the forgotten east bank is in progress.

The building was generally used in some way as a pub or bar for the dock and grain workers in the 1920’s. Over the next thirty years it changed back and forth but was always a bar or had a bar. Then in the 50’s, it was all converted into warehouses. Ever since, the older owners of the area wouldn’t even discuss opening another bar in the area.

Now, you have the lounge upstairs and downstairs soon to be a bike shop with a store front. Putting in big windows and adding accesibility for pedestrians. But the east bank isn’t going to become another “Pearl”. Portland knows that new and shiney has no soul or history. Portland is going to keep the east bank grimey and wild. Where bands playing late and loud are welcome.
Rotture is open 7 days a week from 8 pm to 2:30 AM. Never a cover before 9 or after midnight.
