Sixteen Swiches, Colin Jones, Guidance Counselor & Paperbacks

Written By Albert Treacher
A great line up at the Someday Lounge last night. I apologize to Sixteen Switches since I missed them plus everyone mentioned how good they were. Colin Jones‘ performance included songs off his new CD, Dancebook Vol 2. The guy never sleeps, his rhymes are never tired and he has enough beats to last through a nuclear winter. With Armatronix at his side the show was loaded. Only thing was the sound was quiet.
Guidance Counselor took the stage with his keyboards, guitar and an old intercom microphone. Apparently the sound was dealt with because his set had the place throbbing. The guitar added that extra prop that keeps your attention and curiosity. Played sparingly, it was enough to make prerecorded beats become equal with the live musician. Guidance Counselor has more presence on stage because he has more humanness on stage. He isn’t just karaoke over beats. It was a display that I didn’t know what might happen. What did happen I was happy about.
renegade.movSometimes you just need to hear loud crashing jamming mod rock. The time was last night. Paperbacks rocked out. My only wish was to have understood the singing. Ryan Biornstad, Mathew Strange, Curt Von Blood and Wiley Know1 did the damage. After which they devoured bananas. Mind blowing.
