Master Musicians Of Bukkake & Dyme Def
Two groups that are pretty far apart on the spectrum of music. Both come highly recommended from Seattle.
/// The Master Musicians of Bukkake are a musical collective in Seattle that rarely perform. Comprised of anywhere from 5 - 20 musicians who are an extension of where The Sun City Girls were headed. On Wednesday March 19th at King Cobra by The Master Musicians of Bukkake started out with two drummers with a sorta dueling drummers thing. Which built up in intensity that gave a reaction similar to the onset of cocaine. The effect was disorienting and jarring. The lead singer always dresses in white and performs with spotlights on his shoulders blaring directly into his own face. This night he had a green swamp man costume that had them fill King Cobra with chaotic feedback and droning. The 30 minute set ended with the lead singer crashed out on the drums while green fog oozed over the stage.
/// Dyme Def should be familiar to everyone in Cascadia. With beats good enough to bounce their way into the Top 100 for a few weeks last year. NPR named Dyme Def’s “Space Music” as the third best hip-hop album of 2007! They have worked tirelessly and that enthusiasm comes through on their debut of straight-up hip-hop, with one of Seattle’s great beatmasters (Bean One) setting it straight with his production giving it radio accessibility and real talent, not just money making enterprise. Brainstorm, S.E.V. and Fearce Villain — plus producer Bean One make music that moves you.
