The Caldonia’s, 40 Hundred Thousand Locked Up Guns, Guidance Counselor, Grab The Bat Killer

Olympia /// Jane Goodall

I was invited last minute by Guidance Counselor to ride up and catch his show in Olympia. I agreed only with the strict condition of no making out. My last experience was one I will always remember, but my heart is fragile and GC (He lets me call him that) is too much man for one woman. He made no promises but would reign in his seductive ways.

When arriving we both needed coffee so to Vita Cafe we went. Coincidentally the Caldonias and Grab the Bat Killer both were there hashing out details to find a new venue to play. Grab the Bat Killer had been banished from his last house by his roommates where all the bands are suppose to be playing. In fact the roommates threatened to call the Police if he tried to do anything at the house. It seemed the new place was the Free School.

40 Hundred Thousand Locked Up Guns and GC traded songs back and forth. Punchy, fun antics and rabid dance freak-outs. 4HTLUG’s “If my girlfriend doesn’t call me I’m going to lift weights all night” brought out the dance attack. After checking out Quality Burrito’s new lounge I made it back to the Free School to hang out with Tyler Ferrin and Jeremy Paul Hernandez of 4HTLUG. They explained how they started their label Boy Gorilla Records and highly recommended Kick Ball.

I heard a woman’s voice that felt like a growl. Inside were the Caldonias. Choppy aggressive rock with a lead singer that grabs your attention and shakes your face with her voice. Bob plays guitar with a heavy hand and a sound like a stampeding Bison herd. Which I’ve never heard but the analogy sounded good. After their set back in the Typhoon van, Sydney the drummer started her rant about Kill Rock Stars. Only started though.
