Are the magnetic poles shifting or are we in the middle of some fifth dimension Outer Limits kinda thing, where you find out that your family is really a bunch of aliens. Seattle and Portland could become far more liberal than Canada’s Vancouver regarding cannabis. The Federal Government in Canada is considering implementing a Mandatory Minimum sentencing system like the US started 40 years ago.
Having one cannabis plant would bring a 6 month term in prison. Fired from a job most likely and a huge cost to taxpayers. Understanding that Canada’s Federal Government is still conservative and right wing is essential for Americans. Harper is Canada’s McCain, well he is alive so he’s not that bad, but just as conservative. George Bush’s first speech was in Canada’s conservative west. So the idea that our Mandatory Minimum system is working so good that Canada is going to start using it is about as logical as Canada Invading Iran because the Americans did such a great job in Iraq. It’s a complete failure.
New York Sate, some of the toughest punishments for drugs in the US, dropped it’s medieval Mandatory system finally allowing for treatment to be a sentence. This seems like a last gasp effort to push this through, as final stamp on Canadian culture. The supporters tried 2 years ago and failed, this time it seems it has a better chance. The Police Chief of Vancouver has come out in favor of this policy, contradicting his previous position of tolerance for single cannabis plants.
Think of all the people of Cascadia that think of Vancouver as our Amsterdam. A place where tolerance and reason are a part of the culture, a place free and secure that they won’t be removed from society for growing plants. We in the US look to Canada as an example of tolerance and understanding, that’s a country to be proud of. A pride that is unique because Americans have don’t look to any other country for help. Keep your freedom so we can achieve ours.
