Thursday’s show at Backspace by Guidance Counselor was an example of a band that goes on tour and returns changed. Returning with confidence and no hesitation. As if they had been through an ordeal. The GC that I saw three weeks prior wasn’t the band I saw on Thursday. I’ve seen Ian Anderson’s Guidance Counselor at least 6 times and each time the performance gets better, even more so after a two week cross country tour with Starfucker.

You could feel their connection and determination by how tight they played. In synch, on time and dance ready, they almost had a Happy Mondays kind of jam going for a minute. Everyone could feel their confidence. There wasn’t anyone standing still and most everyone was dancing. At one point moshing actually started. Truly a great show.
