Mad Rad’s “white Gold” Finally Gets Our Review

Fckoff

Sounding like Baltimore Hyphy grinding on Spank Rock, flirting with the Beastie Boys while buying drinks for M.I.A. forgetting they were giving their number to Lil Kim .”White Gold” is that house party you stumble upon, hop on the mic, kill with your freestyle (and you don’t even rap), break the pinata, make out with that gorgeous girl on the dance floor, the dj plays your requests , end up in the hot tub at someone else’s house, then waking up the next day having that feeling something awesome happened but you’re missing a shoe and can’t remember what happened after the swimming pool.

The only words I can use to describe White Gold would be booming banging breaking snapping sweating spraining dancing lip licking bassbombing thumping spazzing riding biting speeding swerving dipping freaking screaming sweating cruising winking spanking baking bouncing ramp jumping lying buying blunting popping jocking dreaming creaming beaming sweating twisting uppercutting roundhousing red light running sweating sizzling smoking toking shot calling big balling diving smiling thrashing trashing clapping stomping tweaking drinking Atomic Bombing jaywalking assgrabbing panty wetting frying dumpster diving nonstopping name dropping laughing barfing singing swinging sliding spilling spitting throbbing pounding blocking cocking dropping hopping sniffing barking crashing dunking and dripping.

No time for air just a ton of energy and action. “Jesus Piece” is a sick smooth summer jam while “My Product” is a loud pounding club anthem that feels more punk than hip hop. Even with slower more soulful songs like “Electric Sheep” they always manage to get down. As part of the growing scene in Seattle, including Fresh Espresso, Champagne Champagne, Tigerbeat and Filejerks they are developing a Seattle hip hop disco hybrid of Baltimore Hyphy. Able to cover the whole spectrum of hip hop, from chopped and screwed to old school love ballads to freakish Kool Keith. Mad Rad stand out by their “never EVER old school, always always brand NEW” styled production. Their songs are a testament that the future of hip hop in Cascadia is developing a separate scene far from the condescending approval of New York or LA. On our side of the continent, Cascadia is proud to have Mad Rad represent us, with at least 8 songs that can be put into your heavy rotation from now until 2011 this is what you’ve been waiting for. What we’ve all been waiting for.

Amen
