Meg Adamson – Breeze Block Gallery

To know that the artist who painted the back mural of Breeze Block was having a show there, was enough for us to make our way up there. Meg’s illustrations have a ghostly feel. A kind of wispy temporary feel. This is due to her soft approach and the sketchy rough feel of these illustrations and paintings. It seems a natural extension for her to go towards animals and hunting since a theme of hers is wild animals and thus, Hunter Gatherer.

Not only featuring her paintings but also an installation/sculpture, with the help of Drew Steadham, of a Bison head made from layers of varying fabrics while a T.V. plays a looping video of people smashing up a bus stop, docile deer foraging in the woods, buddies shot gunning beer at a friends grave plus a whole bunch more. Obviously the installation is representing a hunted Bison. Well, maybe not obviously. I could be wrong but the intention is a little more vague. Never the less it’s interesting and not what I expected. All month her work will be at Breeze Block. What won’t be there all month is the best tasting beer I’ve had in a long time.

While researching a story on Captured By Porches Brewery, Oree came across the story of Rebecca. The brewers own Aunt who’s being falsely imprisioned in Mexico, and thus the White Belgian, Rebecca’s Divine Wit, was donated to the opening. Rad! A great addition along with the Black Sabbath from the DJ.
