With Help from all over Seattle’s awesome Hip Hop scene State of The Artist tear it up like an old school player makes love, with finesse, a caress and a smack on the ass. Smooth enough to get ya home, just rough enough to remember. These guys are making Cascadia sound better and better. This is an example of what kind of talent is in Seattle. From straight bangers like Choppin to the hand clap’n dance jam, Us, State of The Artist show how much range they have. But the more soulful and thoughtful songs are the strongest and most satisfying.
Rock it Slow, a hip swinging high five’n jam with spacey swirls and thick vocals laying down the law. They even brought a new adjective to the English language, Hasselhoff’n on Rock it Slow. Keeps me coming back for more and more with the beautiful backing vocals and tougher lyrics make for a perfect blend. On Blowclouds with help from Fresh Espresso the song just has the kind of feel to it that won’t tire easily especially if you’re “blowing clouds” of smoke.
In fact every time I listen to this, it gets better and better. I’m now really digging Jealous featuring the smarmy rhymes of Katie Kate. This is the kind of music that won’t get bland for a minute and could be in my heavy rotation by the time the sun gets here. Check out a few tracks on the Renegade Radio playlist.
